Graveside service for Betty Joyce Skelton will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at the Snider Cemetery in Chelsea.

Betty passed away Thursday, February 4, 2016 at the age of 75.

The daughter of Roy and Vera Koontz Miller was born May 14, 1940 in Claremore, Oklahoma. As a young girl she was raised in northeast, Oklahoma.

As she became older , and was living near Spavinaw she met Ernest Skelton Jr. They would marry on June 25, 1966 in Nowata. Together they made their home in Broken Arrow. There she began to raise her family. As her children became older, Betty decided to return to work. A couple of her favorite jobs were as a nurses aid at Hillcrest Hospital, and most recently working for the Cherokee Nation.

In her spare time Betty had many hobbies. She loved making arts and crafts such as dolls, collecting Indian art, going to the ocean and especially going to garage sells.

She will be remembered by her family as a very loving, kind and happy person.

She is preceded in death by her parents Roy and Vera Miller.

Survivors include her husband Ernest Skelton Jr.; sons, Lloyd Martin, Jeff Skelton, and Jerry Skelton; daughters, Lavera Bean, Trudy Meo, Vivian Schokley and Kelly Bledsoe; 3 brothers, 3 sisters, 26 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.
