Carl Wayne Hilbert

December 16, 1941 — February 27, 2017

Service for Carl W. Hilbert was 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 3, 2017 at Tiawah Community Baptist Church. Burial followed at 4-H Family Cemetery, under the direction of MMS-Payne Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Carl passed away on Monday, February 27, 2017 at Hillcrest Medical Center. He was 75.
Born December 16, 1941 in Tiawah, Oklahoma, to Robert Lee and Leona (Revis) Hilbert, Carl attended school in Tiawah and Inola, graduating with the class of 1960 from Inola High. Following his schooling, Carl enlisted in the US Navy and proudly served his country for four years. When he was honorably discharged, Carl returned home and worked for his dad's well drilling business.
Carl married Margie Luster in 1966 on the banks of the Verdigris River. The couple made their home in Catoosa for 24 years. He went to work for Webster Engineering for ten years before going into business with his brother-in-law and opening a meat processing plant. In 1989, Carl bought his brother-in-law's share of the business, and continued working with Margie by his side. In 1996, they sold the meat processing plant, and Carl pursued his dreams of farm life. He acquired some property near his childhood home, and began raising cattle and farming the land.
His hobbies were many, including hunting, fishing and playing cards, to name a few. His most enjoyable times were spent coaching his daughters' soccer teams, and being their 4-H leader in the Rogers County Young Stockman. Carl was most proud of his grandsons, whom he called his posse.
Those family members that survived include his wife Margie of their home in Tiawah; his daughter Sharon Holm and husband Lance; grandsons Tyler Beeler, Wyatt Beeler, Gunner Holm and Maverick Holm; his brother Darrell Hilbert, and his seven sisters, Betty Key, Ruth Ann Walker, Louise Riley, Wanda Tennyson, Edna Benzel, Shirley Strickland, and JoAnn Hudson, and son-in-law Michael Beeler. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Deborah Ann Beeler, and his brother Bill Hilbert.
