Charles Edward Barnes

Charles Edward Barnes passed away on May 8, 2016 at the age of 60. Memorial services will be held at a later date.

The son of Bob and Barbara Bookout Barnes was born on August 4, 1955 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Over the next few years they would live in Warner, OK, and Houston, TX, before settling in Chelsea. There he began attending Chelsea schools graduation with the class of 1973. Wanting to continue his education Charlie went to Oklahoma City and attended business school. After Charlie finished business school, he began working as a chef. He worked in places such as Shangri La and the Indian Springs Country Club.

Looking for a change Charlie decided to return to school. He began attending Rhema Bible College graduating in the early 1980's. With a renewed spirit, Charlie returned home to Chelsea and purchased the McCollough Diner. Over the next several years he would own and operate Charlie's Drive In, Charlie's Game Room and the Movie Barn. He did this until later part of 2015 when he decided to move to Tulsa. Charlie also served as a Chelsea town councilman for several terms.

In his spare time Charlie loved reading, especially the Bible, going to concerts and movies. He also loved games. Board games, trivia games, tennis and racquetball to name a few. However Charlie's family and his church, Memorial United Methodist were always his priorities.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Barbara Barnes; sister, Christine Barnes; and his grandparents.

Survivors include his sisters, Debbie Percifield of Tulsa and Cathy Bunn and husband Danny of Broken Arrow; nephews, Dustin Sponsler and wife Stacy of Tulsa, Daniel Bunn and wife Robin of Covina, CA, John Bunn and wife Heather of Tulsa, Zach Bunn and Timmy Bunn of Broken Arrow, Arron Edwards of Ada, Addam Edwards of Chelsea and Jason Barnes of Tulsa; niece, Carrie Bresnehen of Texas; great nephews and nieces, Tres, Emrie, Jaden Asher and Anna Bunn, and Mckenzie, Luke, Roman and Bennett Edwards.
