Charles Lee Scudder

Funeral service for Charles Scudder will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 24, 2017, at House of Prayer Holiness Church, with Pastors Denton Hubbard and Tom Schulze officiating. Burial will follow at Washington Cemetery under the direction of Chelsea Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Visitation will be Thursday, March 23, at the funeral home from 1-8 p.m. Family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. Charles passed away at his home on Monday, March 20, 2017, at the age of 74.
Charles was born February 4, 1943, in Claremore, Oklahoma to Samuel John and Lucky May (Hall) Scudder. He attended school at Bushyhead and Chelsea.
In 1975 Charles met Loretta Sue Cornelison. Their first date was at Gliedts Café in Chelsea. A few months later, they were married on May 26, 1976. They made their home in the Chelsea area. To this union were born two children.
Charles worked as an electrician and a farmer. He was employed with CMA until his retirement in 1990. He taught himself to play the fiddle, and it became one of his passions. He played the fiddle with a country and western band, and also played for church services at House of Prayer Holiness Church. He loved being outdoors with his cows, fishing, and taking rides through the countryside. He loved working hard, and just had to be busy all the time. It was very hard for him to relax and go on vacation, but he did make sure to share many special times, making memories with his children when they were young. He enjoyed those times most of all. The family often vacationed at Pine Lodge in Ketchum, OK, or Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Leon and Samuel Scudder, and one sister, Loretta Scudder.
Survivors include his wife, Loretta, his children, John Lee Scudder and wife Bethany, and Loretta Mae Scudder, sister, Sammie Prideaux and husband Gerald, brother-in-law, Luther Allen, nieces and nephews, Mike West and wife Kitty, Jenny Bland and husband Adam, Rita Proctor and husband Bill, Jim Scudder, and Crystal Scudder, along with numerous extended family members, friends, and loved ones, and a grandchild on the way.
