Elmer F. Barrow

Graveside service for Elmer Fred Barrow will be 10:00a.m., Thursday, July 23, 2015 at Washington Cemetery, under the direction of MMS-Payne Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 22 from 1pm--8pm. Fred passed away on Monday, July 20, 2015 at his home. He was 84.
Elmer Fred Barrow was born December 20, 1930 in Wink, Texas to Alfred W. and Lottie M. (Fairbanks) Barrow. Home was many places for the Barrow family, because of Mr. Barrow's employment in the oil fields. Fred received his formal education from the Foyil Schools while working at the lumber mill. Fred was self-taught and self-motivated, this made for a very hard worker and it also gave him the skills needed to succeed in life. He later worked as a mechanic on heavy equipment and then as a auto mechanic. Fred also worked at Heritage Hills Golf Course for about 27 years. He was always on the lookout for a bargain. Fred could buy just about anything and fix it up and sell it for a profit. His hobby was making sure everyone else's needs were taken care of. His family was most important, and he loved spending time with his grandkids.
Those who survive include his sons Fred Junior Barrow of Grenada, Mississippi, Timothy Barrow and wife Christie and Josh Barrow and wife Candice all of Claremore; his grandchildren Nathan, Robert, Justice, Makaela, Timothy and Chelsea; his brothers Gene Barrow of Claremore and Bob Barrow of Kentucky and his sister Ann Thurman of Oklahoma City. Fred was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Peggy.
