Funeral service for Everett Roy Jones will be 1 p.m., Thursday, April 28, at Rejoice Church, Owasso, with Pastor Leonard Pirtle officiating. Burial with military honors by the U.S. Navy will follow at Chelsea Cemetery under the direction of MMS-Payne Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wednesday 1-7 p.m., and family will greet friends 6-7 p.m. Masonic rites will be held at the funeral home Wed. at 7 p.m.
Everett passed away Sun., April 24, 2016, at his home at the age of 85.
The son of Clifford Roy Jones and Pearl (Taylor) Jones was born Dec. 15, 1930, in Chelsea. While attending Chelsea High School Everett worked for Goosman's Garage. He went on to serve in the U.S. Marines, U.S. Air Force Reserves, and retired from the U.S. Navy Reserves. While serving in the reserves, Everett was a flight engineer. Through the years he was able to travel to many places with the reserves. On Dec. 22, 1950, Everett married Ethel Berniece Underwood in Chelsea. Everett retired after 35 years with American Airlines where he was an aircraft mechanic. He was a 32nd degree mason with Masonic Lodge #545 in Owasso, and a member of the American Legion in Claremore. Everett enjoyed playing golf.
Everett is preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Sue Hansen; his parents; brother, Glenn Jones; and sister, Zadie Marie Tidwell.
He is survived by his wife, Berniece of the home; son, Roy Thomas Jones and wife, Bonnie of Claremore; siblings: Raymoth Jones of Orangevail, CA, Jesse Jones and wife, Catherine of Harrison, AR, and Helen Barnes of Woodlake, CA; sister-in-law, Ann Jones of Phoenix, AZ; 7 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 N. Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607.
