Frances Grider "Fran" Davis

Services for Frances Grider "Fran" Davis will be 10:00 am, Thursday, July 27, 2017 at First Baptist Church, Claremore. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 26 from 1--6 pm, with family receiving visitors from 6--8 pm. Fran passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2017 with her family by her side. She was 80 years old.
Born July 10, 1937, in Verdigris, Oklahoma to Frank and Ida (Miller) Grider, Fran received her education at Claremore, graduating with the class of 1955. On August 8, 1952, she married John R. "Dick" Davis at First Baptist Church, and the couple began an adventurous life together. They moved to Stillwater so that Dick could attend college. He later joined the US Air Force, and while he was in basic training, Fran returned to Claremore and finished high school.
With Dick's career in aviation, the family saw many different places; the most remarkable was when his employment took them to Africa. Fran's priority was her family, and she made each and every new place feel like home. In 1980 the couple bought a place in Collinsville, Oklahoma and this has been home since 1990.
Fran began working for a local hospital as their activities coordinator. She saw an opportunity when the hospitals began coding all of their medical records; she took a job that she basically trained herself for. Fran finished her career as a Medical Records Coder at St. Francis Hospital. Her hobbies included ceramics and horses. While living in Wisconsin, they had a farm where Fran was able to have horses, and she enjoyed her time there.
This loving and caring lady will be missed by all she knew. Those family members that survive include her husband, Dick of the home; her children John R. "Dusty" Davis and girlfriend Julia Jackman, and Aaron Wes Davis and wife Jana, all of Collinsville and Athena "Wendy" Coppin and husband Lance of Bloomington, Indiana; her grandchildren Miranda Leigh Allard and husband Andrew, Austin Cole Davis, and Ryan Davis; her sister Lenora Space and husband Nova of Tulsa, and her brother James Howard Grider from Rose, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Alice Driver and Helen Leming.
