Memorial service for Janice Deffenbaugh will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Trinity Baptist Church.

Janice Marilyn Deffenbaugh passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at the age of 82.

The daughter of Frank and Bernice Shaw, Janice was born September 15, 1935 in Nashville, Missouri. She was raised and attended school in Mindenmines, Missouri. While in high school she was active in band, 4-H, Glee Club, and cheerleading. She was also homecoming queen of the class of 1953.

April 25, 1954, Janice married Benny Deffenbaugh. They made their home in Chelsea until moving to Claremore on Christmas day of 1975.

Janice quickly became part of the Claremore community. She began volunteering as a band booster, joined the Claremore Garden Club, and the Holiday Hills home extension club. She was also very dedicated member at Trinity Baptist Church. Teaching Sunday school, Bible school as well as singing in the church choir. As her children became older, she began working at Tom's Pharmacy. She was a faithful employee there for over 16 years.

In her spare time Janice loved spending time with her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Bernice Shaw, and husband, Benny Deffenbaugh.

Survivors include her children, Steven and Sandy Deffenbaugh, Paul and Donna Deffenbaugh, Dale and Misty Deffenbaugh and Nancy and John Harris; grandchildren, Stefanie and Jake Viddaurri, Sarah Deffenbaugh, Tyler Deffenbaugh, Amy Pombo, Katy and Brett Coblentz, Drew Deffenbaugh, Cory and Melissa Deffenbaugh, Brandon and Hailey Deffenbaugh, Adam Deffenbaugh, Lesley Harris and Benny Harris; 8 great-grandchildren with 1 on the way; brother, Jim Shaw and wife Rolena; best friends JoAn and JD Kirby, and Stephanie Marsh, along with a multitude of nieces and nephews.
