Memorial service for Jo Anna Cates will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at the Westside Holiness Church.

Jo Anna Cates passed away September 24, 2015 at the age of 72.

Jo Anna Cates the daughter of Clinton Howard and Claudine Kemp Clugston was born January 18, 1943 in Claremore OK. She was raised in Claremore until around age 14 when her family moved to Tulsa. She Graduated from Tulsa Rogers in 1961. Her first job was working at a hamburger/ice cream stand down on Admiral Blvd. Later she went to work for Western Supply, where she met a man named Bob Cates. He thought she needed to be introduced to his son Jack. Jack and JoAnna soon started dating and then were married on June 7, 1963 in Tulsa. In the early years they made their homes in Virginia, Texas,and Missouri, but they would always come back home to Oklahoma and eventually settled in Claremore. JoAnna held many jobs through the years, working for 7-Eleven, Murphy Switch, Court Clerk for Tulsa County, Hillcrest Child Development Center as a receptionist, helped Jack run Midway Feed Store and most recently at the Claremore ER front desk for her preferred 3-11 shift. In the early 90's JoAnna began attending college and earned her Associates Degree from RSU. That was a source of pride for her and her family, to accomplish that at her age. Always the homemaker, JoAnna was a great cook, she enjoyed raising a vegetable garden, loved to fish, as long as Jack made sure there were no snakes, crochet, read and spend time with her grandchildren. She loved softball and was a wiz score keeper, having logged many an inning for her daughter and granddaughters teams.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, her sister Wanda Bridges, and a son Robert Clinton.
Survivors are her husband Jack, of the home, Sons David of New Orleans LA, and Johnny of Tulsa. Daughter Crecia and husband Darren DeVore of Claremore. Grandchildren Destrei and husband Chase Rohr, Zach and wife Kirby DeVore, Darrek DeVore, Daniel DeVore, Jamie Cates and Parker Cates. Great grandson Iverson DeVore. Sisters Betty Owens and Mary Clugston. Brothers Danny and Michael Clugston.
