Joan McClure

Mass of Christian Burial for Joan McClure will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, May 19, 2016 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church. Claremore, Oklahoma. Visitation will be from 1-7 PM with a Prayer Service to follow on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at the MMS-Payne Funeral Home Chapel. Family will be receiving visitors from 5:30-7 p.m.

Joan passed away Thursday, May 12, 2016 at the age of 69.

The daughter of Richard and Francille Russell Guilfoyle was born April 29, 1947 in Skiatook, Oklahoma. She attended South Limestone Elementary School and graduated as Valedictorian of the Catoosa Class of 1964. She furthered her education by attending Draughon School of Business.

After completing her education Joan began her working career. She worked as a book keeper for the Oil and Gas Journal. She also worked for Roger Morris Commission Company, the Tulsa Stockyards, and as a secretary for St. Cecilia Catholic Church. She was a bookkeeper for Jarboe and Stoermer Law Firm, Jarboe Sales & Distribution, and Select Wines until her passing.

October 27, 1967 Joan married Daryl McClure and his three children. The newly wed couple made their home near Keetonville, before moving to Chelsea in 1972.

Joan had many programs she liked to support, but one of her favorites was the 4-H program. She was a 4-H member in her youth and continued her involvement on the local, county, and state level until just a few years ago. Joan served on the Rogers County Fairboard from 1978-1981and was superintendent of the 4-H department at the Rogers County Fair.

Joan showed her commitment to the church and children for many years in helping them prepare for first communion.

Other past times for her included square dancing, fishing, sewing, crocheting and collecting 4-H memorabilia. She was an amazing home maker, known for her Texas potatoes, German chocolate cake and sheet cakes.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Francille Guilfoyle; husband, Daryl McClure and grandson, Jonathan Quantie.

Survivors include her children Steve McClure and wife Karen of Chelsea, Connie Murry and husband Gil of Emmet, Arkansas and Lynda Hougam and husband Kurt of Franklin, Wisconsin; her grandchildren Travis McClure, Fontella Martin, Justin McClure, Troy McClure, Brian Quantie, Jessie Shinn and Robert Shinn; her great grandchildren Zachery, Andrea, Emily, and Ryan Martin, Trystan, Lillyonna, and Nevaeh McClure, Julian and Aryanna McClure, Mackinzie McClure, Liberty Strickland, Kyle Ackley, Anthony Ellis, Madison, Jonathan, and Aaron Quantie, and Jordan and Jacob Shinn; siblings, Sherry Foutz, Sandy Phelps, Russell Guilfoyle, Chris George, Pat Ludwick, Mike Guilfoyle, Phyllis Welch, Donna Horner, Jerri Guilfoyle, and Stephen Guilfoyle.
