Lester Dixon "L.D." Littlefield Jr.

Service for Lester Dixon "L.D." Littlefield, Jr. will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at First Baptist Church of Inola. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 4, from 1--8 pm, with family receiving visitors from 6---8 pm. L.D. passed away on Friday, March 31, 2017 at his home, with family by his side. He was 85 years old.

Born August 14, 1931, in Mayes County to Lester Dixon and Wilma Viola (Chandler) Littlefield, L.D. attended school in Pryor, graduating from Pryor High School. In 1952, he enlisted in the US Navy, and proudly served his country during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge, L.D. enlisted with the Air National Guard and had a career as a warehouse supervisor, retiring in 1986. L.D. married an Inola girl, Willa Mae Blackwell on July 6, 1956. The couple has two daughters and lived in Inola most of their married lives.

LD accepted Christ at an early age. He was a long time member of Inola First Baptist Church, serving as a Sunday school teacher and deacon for over 30 years. He loved the Lord, his church and church family. He loved teaching and using his craftsman skills to work on several church building projects.

L.D. was civic minded with a heart that could not say no. One might say he was a professional volunteer. His heart and hard work were seen at many levels in the community. L.D. served 30 years in the Lyons Club, helped organize the effort to get a Senior Citizen's building, and helped establish the Inola library. He was the Chaplin and commander of the VFW, served on the Rogers County Planning Commission, and was also a charter member of the Inola Round Up Club. L.D. served on the school board and attended most all of the school's activities. He also coached his daughters' soft ball teams. He never missed a chance to promote the town of Inola and helped to make it a better place to live.

His hobbies were fishing and gardening, he loved spending time in his shop fixing things that folks would bring him. He loved his family and extended family, with many kids calling him "Paw".

Those family members that survive include his wife of over 60 years, Willa Mae of their home; his daughter Sharon Littlefield; his brothers G.C. Littlefield and wife Judy of Pryor, Jerry Littlefield and wife Halline of Tulsa; his sisters Billie Curry and husband Car,l and Mary Clark and husband Bob, all of Pryor, and brother-in-law Joe Nicely of Grove. L.D. was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Tamara Kay Littlefield, and his sister Bette Nicely.
