Paul L. Kinzer

Service for Paul L. Kinzer will be 10:00a.m., Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at Harvest Baptist Church, pastor Tim Lindsey will officiate. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday, November 28 from 1pm--8pm, with family receiving visitors from 6pm--8pm. Paul went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at Clarehouse. He was 89.

Born in Attica, Kansas on June 19, 1927 to Olin J. and Jeanetta Elizabeth (Hoyt) Kinzer, Paul's family moved to Parsons, Kansas in 1941 and he graduated high school with the class of 1945. Paul enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country during WWII. He was stationed in Germany during this time and he received the World War II Victory Medal and the Army Occupation Medal.

On February 14, 1946 Paul married Doloris Baze and the couple was blessed with two sons, David and Randall Kinzer. Paul started his career with American Airlines in 1948 as a clerk in the engine shop. He retired in 1993 as a Managing Director of Purchasing and Inventory Control. This was not the end of his career, he went to Lafayette, Louisiana and did contract work for PHI, this lasted ten years.

Paul met Julia Purkey at American Airlines in 1959, the couple married on March 31, 1961, together they had a daughter, Jo Lynn Kinzer. A dedicated Christian to his home church, Harvest Baptist, Paul served as a deacon and treasurer for several years. He also was dedicated to his employer, American Airlines. Paul showed loved and devotion to his family and many friends. He was an avid sports fan and cheered his two favorite teams, the OU Sooners and the St. Louis Cardinals. He also enjoyed slow pitch softball and was the pitcher up into his 70's. He meticulously cared for the park-like setting of his 10 acres in Verdigris and loved seeing the wildlife that visited. Paul was respected and loved by all who knew him. His sense of humor was beyond compare.
Those family members that survive include his wife Julia Kinzer of their home; sons David Kinzer of Tulsa and Randall Kinzer of Owasso; honorary son Jeff Lawson and wife Christie of Sand Springs; sister Jewel Shields and husband Ray Dean of Denver, Colorado; grandchildren Amy Sandel of Tulsa, John Kinzer and wife Joanne of San Francisco, Joshua Kinzer of Owasso, Brandee Pittman and husband Barry of Grove and Christopher Paul Henry and wife Kara of Owasso; honorary grandsons; Jeffrey and Jake Lawson of Sand Springs, his eleven great grandchildren Kaylee Henry, Blayke Henry, Dakota Bryan, Elijah Kinzer, Josh Kinzer, Bailey Pittman, Braden Pittman, Warren Sandel, Ava Bloss, Tessa Bloss and Joey Fields.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Jo Lynn Kinzer, daughters-in-law Connie Kinzer and Marion Kinzer; brother Bill Kinzer, sisters Margaret Brooks and Marva "Jean" Vanzant.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation in memory of Paul may be made to the Building Fund Harvest Baptist Church, 24733 S Highway 66 Claremore, OK 74019.
