Service for Shirley A. Brown will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Harvest Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Ross Mayes Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 21 from 2--8 pm, with family receiving visitors from 4--6 pm. Shirley passed away on Monday, June 19, 2017. She was 77.

Shirley was born at home in Salina, Oklahoma on November 16, 1939, the third of 5 children. Her family moved several times during her childhood, but she spent the last of her school years in Owasso, and graduated from High School there in 1958. She met Charlie while both were working for Sears, and they were married on June 30, 1978. Together, the two of them built their beautiful home in Catoosa in 1979, and over the years have made it into a park-like showplace that is beautiful year round. Shirley loved flowers and plants, and if you've had the pleasure of visiting their place, you have seen the benefits of their labor in the colors and textures of the surroundings.

Between them they have 4 children; John and Beth, and Debi Ward and Randy Brown. Debi and Randy have lived close to them for several years, and have been there to help when needed, or for traveling companions. They have 5 grandchildren: Chris Brown, Dillon Ward, Adrienne Sadler, Jessica Ward, and Taylor Ward; and 6 great grandchildren: Emma, Eva, and Charlie Ward,; Katie Yuan; and Dani and Kenzie Brown.

Surviving family members are her husband, Charlie, of the home; children Debi Ward of Verdigris, OK and Randy and wife Mary Brown of Chelsea, OK; 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; brothers Junior Willis and Buck and wife Andy Willis; niece Joni Messer, and nephews, Bucky Mills, Jim Willis and wife Jacci, and Leroy and wife Sam Ward, and special friends Ed and wife Doni Shinn of Washington State. She was preceded in death by her parents; Vernie and Clara Willis, brother Jim Willis, and sister Louise Mills.

Shirley loved to cook and bake and excelled at both--ask anyone who has had the pleasure of eating her home cooking. She was also a gifted seamstress and made many craft projects which brought others joy. She was fastidious in personal appearance and with her home--everything in order and done the right way. Her reasons for doing all the things she loved so much; cooking, baking, crafts, sewing, and a clean house, were always for others--she loved doing it because of her love for her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by many.
