Born June 23, 1930 in Morris, Oklahoma to Harvey Benton and Rita Inez (Guinn) Duncan, Tommy received his education at Haskell, Oklahoma. While working at Safeway as an assistant manager, he met Lucy Mae Silkey, who was a checker, and the rest is history. The couple married on May 2, 1954 in a Tulsa ceremony, and made their home in Tulsa and Sapulpa before moving to Dallas. In 1971, the family moved to Claremore. Tommy owned a Guy's Potato Chip route, and worked for them until his retirement.
Tommy loved to fish and, per the family, was the best fisherman ever born. Having the very first fishing license issued by the state of Oklahoma, Tommy taught his family and friends how to fish and where to find them. He also owned and trained quarter horses, and his favorite, tripled A rated "Speed of Sound" was a winner. Tommy also loved all sports, and he was a big fan of The Dallas Cowboys. While he was in the Army, he boxed and played football. His family was the most important to him, and he loved spending time with them. He and Lucy were always together, never spending a night away from each other. Tommy had a great sense of humor, and could tell the best stories.
Those family members that survive include his wife Lucy of their home; his daughters, Kathy Duncan Strickland, Cindy Ann Duncan, and Rhonda Duncan Maggard and husband Mike, all of Claremore; his grandchildren, Kaycie Maggard of Claremore, Shannon and Jason Schuler of Sequoyah, Sherry and Aaron Wilson of Justus, and Brent Duncan Callison and wife Amber of Broken Arrow; great-grandchildren, Jesi and Haley Schuler, and Addie and Braden Wilson.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, and grandson Matthew Dean Maggard.
