Funeral service for Tommy Lynn Self will be 10 a.m., Thurs., Jan. 29, at The Sanctuary Christian Worship Center with Pastors Garry and Reba Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Winganon Cemetery under the direction of Chelsea Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wed. 1-8 p.m., and family will greet friends 6-8 p.m.
Tommy passed away Sun., Jan. 25, at St. Francis Hospital, Tulsa, at the age of 56.
The son of L.V. and Mildred Mae (Beard) Self was born Aug. 10, 1958, in Crockett, TX. Tommy grew up and attended school in Crockett. He went to work at the local saw mill for several years, and then began his career in carpentry. He was a skilled carpenter, building many houses. Tommy loved being outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. He enjoyed hosting many fish frys where he provided the fish and cooked. Tommy was very close to his family. He loved spending time with all his family and playing with the grandkids. He never met a stranger, and was always helping people any way he could. Tommy moved to Chelsea in the fall of 2003. He met the love of his life, Vicki Luann Couch, at The Sanctuary Christian Worship Center. They were married on May 19, 2007, and made their home together in Chelsea.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Milton "Bubba" Self.
He is survived by his wife, Vicki of the home; daughters: Cristy Lee Self of Tulsa, and Misty Downing and husband, Travis of Broken Arrow; brother, R.L. Self and wife, Norma of Trinity, TX; sisters: Virginia "Littlebit" McGraw of Woodville, TX, Lillie Mae "Tiny Gal" Messer and husband, Johnny of Woodville, TX, and Mary Wade and husband, Paul of Doucette, TX; grandchildren: Breionna Livermore, Braxton Swanson, Addilynn Blacklock, Caden Downing, and Cole Downing; and numerous extended family members.
