The daughter of Vernis Lee Adkins and Thelma Vernetta (McMannis) Adkins was born Nov. 12, 1927, in Collinsville. She attended school in Collinsville, and at the age of 17 married Willard Chambers. They had two children together, Barbara and Dean. Wanda later married John F. Francis. After John passed away in 1976, she went to work for the Collinsville Nursing Home. She worked there for 19 years until her retirement. In 1997, she moved to the Will Rogers Apartments to be near her daughter. She was one of their first residents.

For the past three years she has lived at Wood Manor where she was dearly loved and well taken care of. She loved to play dominoes, a trait she inherited from her dad, with her special friend, Mary Moffett, and her grandson, Scott. She also loved playing Bingo every Tuesday and Thursday. Her room was full many collectibles she won at Bingo. So full that her daughter would donate many of the items back to the nursing home to give as prizes, and Wanda would win them back. She loved and cherished them. When Wanda was able she enjoyed attending church where ever she could.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents; and siblings: Virgil Adkins, Imogene Myers, and Gary Adkins.

Wanda is survived by her children: Barbara Christmann and husband, Chris of Claremore, Dean Chambers and wife, B.K. of Broken Arrow, Carolyn McGoveran and husband, Eddie of Tulsa, Carroll Lee "Bo" Madden of Tampa, FL, and Rhonda Joy "Nonka Doy" Anderson of Broken Arrow; siblings: Mary Ann Dycus and husband, Mike of Glenwood, AR, Verna Jean Sellers and husband, Preston of Talala, Ronald Adkins and wife, Donna of Claremore, Donnie Adkins of Sand Springs, Lonnie Adkins and wife, Zelta of Lubbock, TX, Dorothy Sunday and husband, Johnny of Collinsville, and Larry Adkins and wife, Susie of Talala; 10 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
