Wayne Moore

Funeral service for Anthony Wayne Moore will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2016 at the MMS-Payne Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Ron Burks will officiate. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Wayne passed away on May 17, 2016 at his home in Chelsea at the age of 68.

The son of Gerald and Anna Nunley Moore was born September 20, 1947 at his grandparents house in Gowen, Oklahoma. A short time later his family moved to rural Claremore. There he would later attend Tiawah and Inola schools. On October 8, 1965 at the age of 18 Wayne enlisted in the U.S. Army. By the time he was discharged In October of 1968 he had served two tours in Vietnam. Upon his return home, he began working as a mobile home inspector. Then wanting a change of pace he decided to move to California. This stay to was short lived and he returned to Claremore. He was then introduced by a family member to heavy haul over the road trucking. Trucking became his passion. It also led him to meet Ruthie Burks. She at the time was working at an area truck stop as a waitress. They married February 7, 1992 at the Church of Love in Foyil. The new couple made their home in Catoosa until being displaced by the tornado in 1993. This led them to move to Chelsea. Over his career he owned and operated his own company as well as work for a few others. He always proud that he earned the million mile safety award.

Wayne was also active in many local organizations. Such as the DAV and the VFW. However becoming a Mason was one of his greatest accomplishments. He was not only a 32 degree mason, but a member of the Scottish Rite and the Shriners. A few of his proud moments were when he was elected Grand Master of the Will Rogers Lodge in 1986, and when he officially became Okie Dokie the Shriner clown. Other hobbies included collecting eagles, coins, and fishing.

He is preceded in death by his father Gerald Moore; son Richard Burrough, grandsons, Christopher Moore and Kyle Bunch; granddaughter, Remedy Moore and sister, Janet Happy.

Survivors include his wife Ruthie of Chelsea; mother, Anna Moore of Claremore; sons, Johnny Moore and wife Misty, Floyd Moore and wife Georgia of Claremore, Joe Moore and wife Raina of Chelsea, Jason Moore and wife Stacce of Adair, Jerry Moore and wife Kathy of Pryor; daughter-in-law, Tonya Burrough of Claremore; grandchildren, J.J, Jacob, Joseph, Aiden, Johnathan, Dustin, Aaron, Charles, Harmony, Charlie, Gracie, Kimberly, Britney, Kristina, Emma, Blake and Dillon; great-grandchildren, Jace, Parker and Haven; brother, Phil Moore; sister, Joy Haddox and numerous cousins and extended family.
