Bill Barrett

October 31, 1931 — July 24, 2016

Memorial service for William Grafton "Bill" Barrett, Jr. will be 10 a.m., Fri., July 29, at MMS-Payne Funeral Home Chapel. Burial with military honors by the U.S. Army will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Tulsa. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wed. 1-8 p.m., and family will greet friends 5-8 p.m.

Bill passed away Sun., July 24, 2016, at his home at the age of 84.

The son of William Grafton Barrett, Sr. and Mary Louise (Shoemaker) Barrett was born Oct. 31, 1931, in Washington, D.C. From 1951-53, Bill served in the U.S. Army. On Nov. 11, 1960, he married Donna Blanche Hamilton in Lutherville, Maryland. They made their home in Chesire, CT, where they raised their two daughters, Patricia and Carol. They later moved to Tulsa, and were long standing members at Church on the Move. He enjoyed volunteering at the Dry Gulch USA kitchen. He also served 18 years as an auxiliary policeman. Bill was a sweet, gentle man that loved for his family.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Donna of the home; daughters: Patricia Barrett Cathey of Claremore, and Carol Lynn Barrett Chavez and husband, Edgar Alfredo Chavez, missionaries in Central America; grandchildren: Timothy Lee Cathey, Jr. of Tulsa, Shana LeAnne Cathey of Claremore, Melissa Cathey Phillips and husband, Chris of Chouteau, Edgard Daniel Chavez-Barrett, Samuel Alfredo Chavez-Barrett, Andres Enrique Chavez-Barrett all missionaries in Central America; great-grandson, C.J. Philips; and sister, Shirley Barrett Ruth and husband, Stirling of Westminster, MD.
