Barbara Jean Barnes was born January 7, 1938 in Warner, Oklahoma to Alpheus L. and Grace A (Thacker) Bookout. She was reared and educated in her birth community, graduating with the class of 1956. Barbara married Bob Gene Barnes on January 21, 1956 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in Houston, Texas for a time before returning to Oklahoma and settling in Chelsea.

A wonderful wife and mother, Barbara devoted her time to taking care of her family. She doted on her grandchildren every chance she got, and enjoyed the Friday night sleep-overs with them. Barbara’s love of cooking and hosting Sunday dinners made family time that much more enjoyable. She also loved her community and supported the fire station by hosting an annual dinner, with the proceeds from the dinner to purchase equipment the fire station needed. Barbara also was an avid watcher of the news, keeping everyone informed.

Barbara is survived by her loving family that include her children, Charles Barnes of Chelsea, Debbie Percifield of Tulsa and Cathy Bunn and husband Danny, also of Chelsea; her companion Roy Edwards; her grandchildren, Dustin Sponsler and wife Stacy of Tulsa, Daniel Bunn and wife Robin of Covina, California, John Bunn and wife Heather of Tulsa, Zach Bunn and wife Clarissa also of Tulsa, and Tim Bunn of Broken Arrow; her great grandchildren, Tres, Emrie, Jaden and Anna Bunn, her sisters, Lahoma Whorton of Grove and Rose Abram and husband Jake of Vinita, and also numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bob, daughter Donna Christene Barnes, and sisters, Naomi Beal, Helen Edwards and Louise Tidwell.
