Carol Jean Applegate

Memorial service for Carol Jean Applegate will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at Calvary Baptist Church. Carol passed away on Friday, October 11, 2019 at home with her family by her side. She was 75.

Born October 23, 1943 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Alonzo Wesley and Elsie Lenora (Corder) Sly, Carol attended schools in Muskogee. She married Tommy Joe Applegate on March 27, 1959 and they made their home Inola and together raised 4 children.

Carol worked for Gateway Luggage for a time and later began working for Allied Signal, where she was a faithful employee for 23 years. Following her retirement, she worked in real estate until fully retiring in 2005. She enjoyed her family, especially those grand kids. Her time with them was special and she loved having all of them over for holidays and other special occasions. Carol also loved to fish, hunt, and read. She was very involved with ESA and loved raising money for good causes, like the back pack program for school children.

Those family members that survive include her husband Tommy Applegate, children Joey Applegate and wife Kim, Elisa Johnston and husband Leslie, Regina Wing and husband Rick and Karen Parker all of Inola; her grandchildren Brian Dobson and wife Shannon, Samantha Miller and husband Marc, Lacy Applegate and Dustin Todd, Levi Applegate and wife Dayna, Jacob Parker and wife Whitney, Dane Delmedico and wife Natalie, Andrea Fugate and husband Chad, Cody Wing, Logan Applegate and Taylor Hipp and husband Cody; 18 great grandchildren; and her sister Lois Jewel Looney. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, great grandson Braden Wayne Dobson; son-in-law Dennis Parker; brother Sonny Sly; sisters Loretta Looney and Sharon Starr.
