Charles Kendrick Doran MD

July 29, 1934 — August 11, 2017

Longtime Claremore resident Charles Kendrick “C.K.” Doran, MD passed away Friday, Aug. 11, 2017. He was 83.

C.K. was born July 29, 1934 in Tulsa, Okla. to parents Clarence Riley Doran and Birmah Mae Maris.

He attended school at Claremore High School and Oklahoma Military Academy from which he graduated in 1952, then served in the Army. Following his time in the service, Kendrick continued his education at the University of Tulsa, from where, he graduated with a degree in Pre-Med, then the University of Oklahoma, where he graduated with his M.D. degree.
After graduation, Kendrick’s residency was in dermatology at a hospital in San Francisco. He later returned to Oklahoma, and went into practice with Dr. Dwayne Minor, with whom, he started the Tulsa Dermatology Clinic.

When he wasn’t taking care of patients at his practice, Kendrick enjoyed running bird dogs and hunting quail in Texas, traveling, or spending time at the family cabin in Eucha, where he enjoyed fishing with his sons and in later years, his grandchildren.
Even when he wasn’t in the country, Kendrick’s appreciated nature and wildlife, always making sure to keep the bird-feeders full at his home in the city.
Kendrick continued to look after patients for more than 30 years at his practice in Tulsa, eventually retiring in 2007.

Following retirement, Kendrick continued to travel as his health would allow, and he always enjoyed making trips to the cabin.
He loved watching sports — golf in particular, and football, especially when his team, the Dallas Cowboys, was playing.

Kendrick was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Kip Doran, sister, Kay Matheson, and his step-son, Andrew Musgrove.

He is survived by his wife, June Doran of Claremore; sons, Kirk Courson and Kent Courson, both of Perryton, Texas, and David Hardin of San Antonio, Texas; step-daughter, Lisa Fink of Claremore, and several nephews, nieces, grandchildren, and family members.

No services are planned.

Arrangements are under the direction of MMS-Payne Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Claremore.
