Hazel Virginia Rose was born on April 15, 1928, in Chelsea, Oklahoma. She was the oldest of five children born to Edgar and Ethel Hubbard. She passed away Sunday, May 3, 2020, at the age of 92.
When she was 15 years old, she married Herron Oxford. To this union, four children were born, Wayne, Bo, Dwite, and Phyllis. In her younger years, Hazel worked as a nurse at St. John Hospital in Tulsa, and also ran a paper route for the Claremore Progress for many years.
In her spare time, she loved painting, fishing, hunting, and mowing. She could out-shoot all the men, and it was a struggle to get her off of the mower when she needed help. She will be forever loved and missed.
Hazel is preceded in death by two husbands, four children, and a grandson. She is survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Hazel will be on Wednesday, May 6, 2020, from 2-6 pm at MMS-Payne Funeral Home in Claremore. Graveside service will be 2:00 pm Thursday, May 7, at Wards Grove Cemetery in Foyil.
