James Robert Leathers Sr.

Service for James Robert Leathers, Sr. will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Epworth Methodist Church, Chelsea. Friends may visit at Chelsea Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 1, from 1pm-8pm. James passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2019. He was 78.

Born February 9, 1941 in Chelsea, Oklahoma to Raliegh Leathers and Emily Culp, James attended school in Chelsea. Following his schooling, James worked for Larry Breeden Trucking for many years before owning his own company.

James loved his family, especially his grandchildren, he also enjoyed horses and dogs. He had the ability to get what he wanted, you might say he was a little ornery. James attended church and had a strong Christian faith.

Those family members that survive include his wife Shirley Jameson of Roland, Oklahoma; his children James R. Leathers, Jr and wife Kelly Ann, Jimmy Todd Jameson and Kay Gattis; his grandchildren Kara Cummins, Victor Wayne Leathers, Kayla Lewis, Jerico James Leathers, Tyrel Howard, Justin Howard, Michael Howard and Kyleigh Howard and 9 great grandchildren; brothers Dewane Leathers and Bud Leathers and sisters Vivian L. McConnaughey and Kay Ieland.
