Joyce Elaine Hannah

August 13, 1946 — July 12, 2018

The family of Joyce Hannah will be holding a Celebration of Life service in her honor on Saturday July 28th, at 10:00 a.m. at MMS - Payne Funeral Home in Claremore, OK. There will be a lunch reception immediately following at The Pink House at Belvedere Manson.
We welcome the many people who blessed our beloved wife and mother with their friendship, and were in turn blessed by her warmth, her grace, her kindness and the generous nature of her heart.
Joyce was born on August 13, 1946 in Llano, TX. She spent much of her youth as a navy brat, instilling in her a love for travel. Of all the places she lived the highlight was three years spent in Hawaii on the island of Oahu. As an adult she returned to Hawaii as often as possible. She graduated from Muskogee High where she married her high school sweetheart, Fred Hannah. They had three children together and raised them on what she referred to as "my two little acres on earth" in Claremore, OK.
Joyce was fearless when it came to making a living or trying something new. She wore many hats during her productive life, sometimes all at once. She was a homemaker, a florist, an accountant and an entrepreneur who along with her husband built a successful LED lighting fixture company. They eventually retired and built their dream home on that same two acres that was so dear to her. The new home was built to gather together with the family she so dearly loved. She was amazing in the kitchen and gathering around the dinner table was a frequent family tradition.
Joyce had a quick wit, a wonderful sense of humor and was a wicked Scrabble player. She was generous and kind and was recognized for her work with the Gatesway Foundation of Tulsa. She loved animals of any kind and rescued countless cats and dogs finding warm homes for them all. She loved food, cookbooks and owned at least three of every kitchen utensil ever made. She had boundless energy and set a high bar in whatever she did; gardening, cooking, flower arranging, decorating and dedication to family. She enjoyed trip planning as well as spontaneous getaways. She loved holidays, happy people, early spring days in her gardens, her grandmother, her children, her grandchildren and her partner in this beautiful life, Fred. She loved days when she thought everything was done but looked for something new to do at every turn. Joyce loved to shop and had an eye for beautiful things. Joyce believed life was short; eat dessert first, have all the shoes you want and like Julia Child, if you are afraid of butter, use cream.
Joyce is survived by her husband of 54 years, Fred Hannah of Claremore, her three children; Keith Hannah of Tulsa, Kevin Hannah and wife Teresa of Tulsa and Ginger Penn and husband Jay of Tulsa. She is also survived by four beautiful granddaughters that she dearly cherished.
To the world you are a mother but to our family, you are the world.
Godspeed on this ultimate journey, we will miss you.
