Logan Leon "Poppy" Kellehan

August 14, 1927 — January 9, 2018

Funeral service for Logan L Kellehan will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at the North Park Trinity Baptist Church. His nephew Charlie Kellehan will officiate.Burial will follow at Lone Chapel Cemetery under the direction of the MMS-Payne Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Public visitation will be from 1-8 pm Tuesday, January 16 at the funeral Home. Family will greet guests from 6-8 pm.
Logan passed away on January 9, 2018, surrounded by his family at the age of 90.
The son of Bill and Beatrice Kellehan was born August 14, 1927, in Claremore, OK. As a young boy he was raised on a farm outside Claremore. They raised their own garden, chickens, hogs, and milk cows. He walked to Harmony Star School from the first to the eighth grade. He would milk cows, pick cotton, and ride 13 miles in a buckboard wagon to a mill to gin cotton. He walked a mile to catch a bus to Sequoyah High School where he graduated in 1946.
After graduation, he was immediately drafted in the Army. Basic training was in Baton Rouge, LA. After Basic training he was flown to California, where he boarded a ship enroute to Japan. He served as Military Police at the base, where he would walk a one-mile square while guarding the troops at night with his dog, Tockee.
He was honorably discharged after being run over by his Admiral’s jeep. After arriving home, he married Edith Norma Jean England, the love of his life, on April 5,1952. They made their home on a small farm, raising their children; Terry, Shelia and Holly.
His hobbies included riding his john deere tractor, hunting with his son, and eating out with his wife.
Leon was preceded in death by his parents and older brother Gail. Leon is survived by his wife, Edith of the home; son Terry and his wife Annie; daughters Sheila and her husband Mike Prater, Holly Smith and her husband Ronnie; grandchildren and spouses; Angelia and Chris Schiesel, Darren and Sumer Prater, Marcus and Kate Montgomery, Tanner and Jessica Kellehan; great-grandchildren Calle, Laylie, and Whitney Schiesel, Eestyn and Lyric Prater, Beatrice Montgomery, Kaylee and Rhyder Kellehan; brothers: Wayne, Sidney, Lynn, Gene and Sister Wilma Yochum.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the God-sent Angels (nurses) Lisa Montgomery, Stephanie Pace, Amber Charles, and Cheryl.
I also want to thank everyone who brought food and came by to visit with dad, we love you.
