Martha Jo Myers

Service for Dr. Martha Jo Myers will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 1, 2019 at Inola United Methodist Church, burial will follow at Ingersoll Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday, February 28, from 1pm-8pm, with family receiving visitors from 6pm-8pm. Jo passed on Monday, February 25th, 2019. She was 66.
Born January 4, 1953 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Howard and Hazel (Howard) Huff, Jo attended Nathan Hale High School, graduating with the class of 1971. She continued her education at the University of Oklahoma receiving her Bachelors Degree in 1976. She married Richard Myers August 9th, 1975, and following her graduation they moved to Inola, and raised their children. Later while teaching in Inola, Jo attended Northeastern State University at night and obtained her Master's Degree in education. She taught at Inola for many years and also did testing for other schools and the State Health Department. In 1992 Jo received her PHD from Oklahoma State University. She also spent over a decade as a professor at Northeastern State University and did consulting work through the years. In January of 2018, Jo married David Channell and they made their home in Inola.
Jo loved her family and enjoyed being with them. She especially loved hearing the name Nanny, when her grandchildren came along. She was an avid OSU fan and loved to travel to Florida for the beaches, New Orleans for the hurricanes and Las Vegas to people watch, just to name a few.
Family members that survive include her husband David Channell; her children Jim Myers and wife Sarah of Broken Arrow, Jeff Myers and wife Gina of Sand Springs, Dave Channell and wife Paige and April Channell; her grandchildren Josie Myers, Julia Myers, Everly Myers and Aubrey Morgan; her sister Kay Ingersoll and husband Win; her brother Howard Huff and wife Bobbie; her nieces Joleta Ingersoll, Windy Keener and husband Dee and Jenni Friederich and husband Jason and her nephew Scott Huff and 5 great-nephews and 1 great-niece.
