Funeral service for Chelsea resident Ronal Ray Grigg will be 2:00 pm Monday, October 15, 2018, at MMS-Payne Funeral Home in Claremore. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday, October 14, from 1-6 pm.
Ronal passed away at his home on Wednesday, October 10, 2018. He was 90 years old.
The son of Oral Ray Grigg and Essie Lee (Dawes) Grigg was born on August 30, 1928, in Chelsea. He grew up and attended school in Chelsea, then joined the Army Air Corps. After his service with the Air Corps, he moved back to Chelsea, where he started talking to a young lady name Eloise in a cafe. The two were married in Bentonville, AR on March 3, 1951, and lived in Vinita for a time before moving to Oklahoma City so Ronal could attend mechanic's school. His career took many turns over the years. He worked as a road builder in Las Vegas, a heating and air technician in Granite City, IL, and eventually he became a boilermaker. This job took the family to many locations until they moved back to Chelsea in the late 1970's. Ronal continued working as a boilermaker until his retirement in the 1990's. He was a member of the Kansas City Boilermakers Union.
In his spare time, Ronal enjoyed many pursuits. He raised cattle, went fishing, and also enjoyed playing jokes. Never one to enjoy sitting at home, he always liked to get out and visit people. But his greatest joy was spending time with his family.
Ronal was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Linda Thornbrugh, siblings Forrest Grigg. Alois Grigg, Bobby Grigg, Juanita Harrell, and infant sibling Loral Grigg.
Survivors include his wife, Eloise, grandson who was raised as a son, Mike Grigg and wife Billie Anne, and other grandchildren, Ian, Lily, and Willow, and sister, Wynona Draeger.
