Shirley Ann Froese

Funeral service for Shirley Froese will be held 10:00 a.m, Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at the Eden Mennonite Church. Pastor David Wiens will officiate. Burial will follow at the Eden Mennonite Cemetery.

Shirley Ann Froese went home to be with her Lord on August 30, 2018 at the age of 82.

The daughter of William "Bill" and Lena Phelps Vann was born May 23, 1936 in Inola, Oklahoma. As a young girl she was raised on a farm in rural Inola. As she became old enough, she began attending Willieo school. She would later attend Inola High School, graduating as a member of the class of 1955 It was during her high school years that she first met Alvin Froese. The two would begin dating and married on November 12, 1955. The newly wed couple made their home in Inola. Over the next few years she would help Alvin run the family farm. She could do everything from milk the cows to feeding the chickens. Eventually her primary job was that of a homemaker. She was proud to care for Alvin and their two daughters.

Shirley was a helpful member of her community. She was an active member of the Eden Mennonite Church. Over the years she served in many ways. She was part of the food and decorating committee. Taught Bible School, and was part of the woman's quilting club. She was a member of the Oklahoma Cattleman's Association, and the Farm Bureau auxillary.

Shirley also had many hobbies and past times. She loved gardening, growing flowers and oil painting. Watching many shows in Branson was another favorite. However her true love was her family. Spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was what made her happy.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Jimmy Vann, Lola Wickham and Gladys Lawson and nephews, Brian Wickham and Allen Reddell.

Survivors include her husband Alvin of the home, daughters, Linda Hines and husband James of Broken Arrow, and Ruth Ellison and husband Lynn of Inola; grandchildren, Max Cookson and wife Sally, Mitch Cookson, Melissa Teal and husband Jeff, Chelsea Hines, Conrad Hines and Kara Mitchell, Brandy Duggan and husband Jason, Blake Ellison and wife Keri, and Bailey Fennell and husband DV; 15 great-grandchildren, and siblings, Jack and Jerry Vann, Billie Vann, Jessie Reddell, Wanda Shank, and Helen Waldrup along with numerous nieces and nephews.
