Vivian Louise Rhodes

Graveside service for Vivian Louise Rhodes will be 11:00 am Friday, November 20, 2020, at Pleasant Hope Cemetery in Adair. Louise passed from this life on Wednesday, November 18, 2020, at her home in Chelsea.
The daughter of Samuel Lawrence Hughes and Eva Ann (Frits) Hughes was born October 2, 1930 in Adair, Oklahoma. She grew up in the Chelsea area, attending school at Catale, Sunnyside, and Chelsea schools. Her father died when she was young, so she became a hard worker early in her life, helping out at home, and as she grew older, she held many jobs. She started out cooking in restaurants, then later worked many years at Craig General Hospital, and also helped her friends the Jacksons by working as a wrapper at their custom slaughter house for 21 years.
In July of 1964, Louise married Carl Madison Rhodes at a country church in Foyil, Oklahoma. Together they raised their family in the Chelsea area. Louise was always very involved in her church. At the Church of the Nazarene in Chelsea, Louise taught Sunday School and Bible School, and also served on the board. In her later years she began attending Spencer Creek Baptist Church.
Louise had many activities that she enjoyed in her spare time. She was an avid exerciser, who walked every day as long as she was able. She enjoyed being outdoors and growing flowers. She also loved quilting, making quilts and pillows for everyone in her family. She was an excellent cook, known for her chicken and noodles. And she enjoyed crocheting, sewing, fishing, and most of all, reading her Bible and spending time with her family, especially family gatherings.
Louise is preceded in death by her parents; husband Carl Rhodes; brothers Orville Lee, Arnold Wade, Bobby Gene, and Billy Joe; sisters Mary Sue Park, Ruby Wilson, and Wanda Morris; brother-in-law Pedro Morris, and son-in-law Orville Francis.
Survivors include her children Carol Orr and husband Herb, Margaret Francis, Carl Rhodes and wife Janell, Linda Ray, and Vesta Cantrell; sisters Ruth Knipe and husband Earl, and Judy Park and husband Wayne; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, friends, and extended family members.
