Linda Smith McClurg, born in Tiawah on March 26, 1944, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her children on Friday, February 27, 2026. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at Eastern Hills Baptist Church. Services are under the direction of MMS-Payne Funeral Service.
She married the love of her life, Tommy Gene McClurg, on March 30, 1963, shortly after their graduation from Sequoyah High School. Together, with their three children they built a life and a home in the Sequoyah community for the next 32 years. After Tommy's passing in 1995, Linda spent the following 31 years devoted to her home and her ever-growing family. She lived a life defined by harmony, both in the music she sang and the family she raised.
Throughout her life, Linda was a familiar face in the Claremore area, serving her community through her work at First National Bank, Sequoyah Schools, and eventually retiring from the Claremore Indian Hospital. She was also a member of the Eastern Hills Baptist Church where she attended many years.
A woman of many passions, Linda was known for her beautiful singing voice. She performed on countless occasions over the years, often alongside her husband, family and friends. She found joy in gardening, puzzles, sewing, arts and craft shows but above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother sister, aunt, and great aunt. Being the family matriarch, she cherished every moment spent as a mother to her three children, Mema and Grammy, to her 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents Buster and Codie Smith, husband Tommy Gene McClurg, brother Chester Smith, and niece Sheri Roberts.
Survivors include her children, Teresa Foster of Claremore, Mark McClurg and wife Brenda of Claremore, and Mendi Partezana and husband John of Claremore. Grandchildren include Alex and Chris Gallowich, McKaine and Alexa Foster, Grayson and Blayke Foster, Tomi Partezana, Jackson Partezana, Katy and Trent Spivey, Cooper and Sadie McClurg, Tanner and Alyssa McClurg, Markus McClurg and Gentry Pilant, Tucker McClurg and Molly Scivally. Great grandchildren include Everly Foster, Nolan Foster, Boone Foster, Lincoln Gallowich, Lucas Gallowich, Parker Foster, Demi Spivey, Oxley Spivey, Cash McClurg, Tilly McClurg and Melody McClurg. Nieces include Kendy Peterson, Kelli Dixon, Jeri Collins, Teri Adams, Tammy Walkingstick, and Malinda Smith. Nephews include Coy Smith, Jeri Walkingstick, Teri Walkingstick, Keri Walkingstick, and Robby Walkingstick.
