August 31, 1953 — November 25, 2016

Graveside service for Donna Marie Thompson will be 2:00pm, Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at Butler Cemetery, Grove, Oklahoma. Visitation will be on Monday, November 28 at the funeral home from 1pm-8pm, with family from 6pm-8pm. Donna passed away at her home on Friday, November 25, 2016 with her sister by her side. She was 63 years old.

Born August 31, 1953 in Merced, California to Ellis Roy and Lola Jean (Wright) Thompson. After a year, Donna moved with her family to Nebraska. In 1958 Donna moved to Enid State School for 2 weeks, at which time her mother removed her due to Donna not being properly taken care of. She then moved to Arkansas with her parents and remained until 1960. She was admitted to Paul’s Valley State School from 1960-1963. Donna transferred to Hissom Memorial Center and stayed until she was 18 years old. She moved to Hays House in Nowata and then to Wood Manor Nursing Home in Claremore from 1972-1992. In 1992, her mother and sister became her guardians. From 1992-2001 Donna moved into her own home with a roommate. Since then she lived in her own home with the care of agencies which provided 24-hour double staffing. Her current agency was Central State Community Services, Inc. Her mother remained a daily part of Donna's life until her passing 2015. At that time her sister remained her guardian and had her niece, Cathy, become a successor guardian.

Donna was loved by all who came in contact with her. She enjoyed car rides, being pushed around in her wheelchair, back rubs (especially by Butch), men’s voices, soft voices, flute music, Elvis and country music and chocolate shakes. She loved her family spending time with her and hearing their voices. The
staff of Central States were very good to her.

Those family members that survive include her sister Debra King and husband Butch of Claremore; her nieces and nephew Cathy Grissett, Connie and husband SSG Timothy Pollock all of Claremore, and SSG Brian King of Sierra Vista, Arizona; great niece and nephews Echo King, Justin O'Connell, SPC James Pollock, SPC Kurtis Pollock and PVT Matthew Pollock, along with many other extended family and friends.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Ellis Thompson, Lola and L.G. Rogers, and her infant brother.
