Jack Blankenship

August 21, 1927 — June 13, 2013

Funeral service for Milo "Jack" Blankenship will be 11 a.m., Tues., June 18, at First Baptist Church of Inola with Bro. Doug Boling officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery under the direction of the Inola Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Mon. 1-8 p.m.

Jack passed away Thurs., June 13, 2013, at his home at the age of 85.

The son of Calvin and Ava Vie (Friend) Blankenship was born Aug. 21, 1927, in Sapulpa. He was raised in Okemah and attended school in Mason. Jack helped his family work harvest each year, until entering the Army. He served as a paratrooper during World War II. After his discharge he returned home to Prague. On Dec. 25, 1947, Jack married Wanda L. Harmon in Sparks. Jack went to work for Tinker Air Field in Oklahoma City for 8 years. The family then moved to Washington State where he worked in logging, dairy, and Boeing. They moved to Tulsa in 1956, and to Inola in 1962. Jack went to work for American Airlines as a mechanic and retired after 27 years of service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, and a VFW lifetime member. Jack enjoyed fishing, hunting, and restoring old tractors.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Jack is survived by his wife, Wanda of the home; children: Jaimie Cox and husband, Ron of Arkansas, Lonnie Blankenship and girlfriend, Teri McGowan of Inola, and Ronnie Blankenship and wife, Rhonda of Inola; sister, Martha Louise Parker of Yukon; 14 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.
