Patricia Nickerson

Graveside service for Patricia (Pat) D. Nickerson will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 18, 2014 at Oakhaven Memorial Gardens in Claremore Ok. Pallbearers will be Roy Rollins, Rob Rollins, Ron Rollins, Wayne Allen, Kelsey Wells, Angela Nowlin, Amber Holinsworth, and Maegan Gardner; and honorary pallbearer will be Rev. Joey Bentley. Visitation will be held on Thursday, from 1-8 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m.
Patricia passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at the age 80.
Pat was born April 24, 1934 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Alice Martin. As a young girl she moved to Tulsa to live with her aunt and uncle; Harrold and Helen Fike and their 3 sons Mickey, Larry, and Kenny of whom she thought of as brothers. As a young adult, Pat enjoyed stock car racing until she gave it up to start her family.
She lived and worked in a few area towns such as Bartlesville, Ponca City, Fairfax and Owasso. She meet Kinnith Nickerson, Sr. at the Claremore Round Up Club where they were well known on the dance floor. They married July 27, 1979 in Independence, KS and later made their home in Claremore.
A few of her favorite jobs was serving as a dispatcher for the Chelsea and Owasso police departments, working for Foyil Public Schools and at Pickett’s nursery. Pat’s hobbies include working and showing steam engines with her husband, Kin; traveling throughout the US mainly to Colorado with their companion, Boston terrier Poncho. Pat enjoyed reading and learning about history. She was also an avid gardener, who built her own greenhouse and could grow anything. Pat was an extremely talented classical pianist. Cooking was one of her many great talents, she was known to make some of the best peanut butter fudge in the country. One of her proudest achievements was receiving her GED by braille. Her family will remember her as a sweet and gentle woman who was also known as mom to many of their friends and mamaw to all her grandkids. She will be greatly missed.
She is proceeded in death by her mother, Alice Martin; aunt and uncle, Helen and Harrold Fike; daughters, Pamela Miser and Linda Gladden, step son, David Nickerson and 2 granddaughters.
Surviviors include her children, Jenny Allen of Claremore, Nancy Bently and husband Jody of Clarmeore, Nena Wells and husband Ron of Claremore, and Nina Gardner and husband Kenny of Claremore; step children, Dan Nickerson and wife Shari, Kinny Nickerson and wife Sue, and Darlene Nickerson; grandchildren, Roy, Rob, and Ron Rollins, Wayne Allen, Kelsey Wells, Angela Nowlin, Rev. Joey Bentley, Amber Holinsworth, Jesse Wells and Maegan Gardner; 15 great-grandchildren, and cousins whom she was raised with Mickey, Larry, and Kenny Fike.
