Services for Ray Dean Love will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Washington Baptist Church with Pastor Charlie Lehman officiating. Burial with military honors by the US Army will follow at Oakhaven Memorial Garden under the direction of MMS-Payne Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home, with family receiving visitors from 6-8 p.m.

Ray passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2014 at the age of 71.

Ray Dean Love was born August 2, 1943 in Claremore to Jewell Lucas and Phyllis Dean (Windle) Love. He received his education in Bushyhead and Chelsea, graduating with Chelsea’s class of 1962. In 1963 Ray married his high school sweetheart and together they made their home in Tulsa while Ray continued working in the construction industry. In 1966 he was drafted in the U.S. Army and served his country proudly. Following his honorable discharge he returned to Oklahoma and lived in Foyil. He continued in the construction industry as a stone mason. He partnered with a friend and formed D&L Stone Masonry. A few years later he became sole owner of Love Stone Masonry. In 1994 Ray studied at the Starr Training Institute, where he learned Auto Cad. Following his completion of the required courses he began working for Payne Surveying and retired in 2005.

Ray had varied hobbies that included bow hunting, motorcycle riding and running. He rode cycles all over the country and began running at the age of 60. Ray made a goal of running 300 races and completed his 287th run on June 7, 2013. He won the Tulsa Race Series in 2007. Ray was active in RoCo Fit where he enjoyed giving encouragement. He was also active in the Cherokee Warriors Running Club and the Wings Running Program. He attended Washington Baptist Church.

Family members that survive include his wife Judy of their home in Claremore; his son Lance “Bo” Love of Brooklyn, New York; his sisters Carole Beck of Edmond and Debbie Wright of Claremore; and his aunt Peggy Ervin of Owasso. Ray was preceded in death by his parents and his son Erick Dean Love.
