Thelma Nobles

Services celebrating the life of Thelma Janette Nobles will be 10:00a.m., Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Memorial Heights Baptist Church. Her pastor Brother Paul Simpson will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakhaven Memorial Gardens under the direction of MMS-Payne Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Visitation will be from 1pm—8pm Wednesday, October 29 at the funeral home. Thelma passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2014 at the age of 90.
Thelma J. (Stacy) Nobles was born June 11, 1924 in Wetumka, Oklahoma to Jess E. and Willie (Whitefield) Stacy. Her family moved to Okay, Oklahoma when she was an infant and Thelma went to school there for two years before the family moved to the Willieo community of Rogers County. Following her schooling, she married Ed Crutchfield in 1941 and the couple made their home there in the Willieo community, where they raised their three children.
When her children were older, Thelma worked outside of her home at Gateway Luggage and later began cooking for Daileys Restaurant. She also worked for the area head start school program. In 1980 Thelma married George Nobles. She and George were able to travel to many different places. She loved her family and enjoyed cooking for them. Her dogs were well cared for and the stray cats found warmth in the storage shed on an electric blanket. Thelma was quite the bowler and had trophies to prove how good she was. She was also a huge Texas Ranger fan and followed them for many years.
Those family members that survive include her sons Neil Wayne Crutchfield and wife Georgette of Corona, California and Gary Lee Crutchfield and wife Linda of Claremore, Oklahoma; her grandchildren Scott Crutchfield, Christopher Crutchfield, Sheila Southard, Bryan Jenkins, Melody Jenkins, Joe Smoke, Pete Smoke and Deshawna Hinds; 12 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents and husbands Ed Crutchfield and George Nobles; her daughter Judith Crutchfield Smoke; 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
