Cornealius Jones Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Funeral service for Cornealius Thulin-Jones will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 14 at the United Pentecostal Church of Chelsea. Burial will follow in Chelsea Cemetery under the direction of the Chelsea Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 13, from 1-7 p.m. The daughter of Alexander and Mary Allen-Thulin, Cornealius (Connie) was born April 22, 1932, in Sperry, Oklahoma, and passed away July 8, 2022, at the age of 90. Connie attended Sperry Public Schools where she graduated May 1950. Shortly after graduation, Connie met Phillip Jones at a church meeting in Sperry, Oklahoma. It was love at first sight and marriage followed March 23, 1951. They began raising their family in Sperry, and a few years later moved to Tulsa. Feeling the call to ministry, Connie and Phillip began evangelizing in the late 1950’s, and held their first revival in Topeka, Kansas. They continued to evangelize for many years, assisting Rev. Carl Ecker at the North Lewis United Pentecostal Church in Tulsa. In early 1970, they moved from Tulsa to pastor the Chelsea United Pentecostal Church. Eventually they returned to the Tulsa area to assist Rev. Orville Hendryx at the Eastland Apostolic Church. When Rev. Hendryx retired, they stayed to assist the new pastor, Rev. Charles Hancock. In 2006 Connie and Phillip moved back to Chelsea where they continued their evangelical efforts by assisting Rev. Randy Jones and Lovella at their Church in Grove Oklahoma. In addition to her evangelical efforts, Connie worked several jobs to supplement their income. She worked as a nurse aid at St. John’s Hospital, Tulsa, Ok and as a nurse in Claremore Ok. Connie finished her working career in Food Services at the Tulsa International Airport. Hobbies included singing, playing the piano, cooking, and last but not least, spoiling her grandchildren! She was preceded in death by her parents Alexander Thulin Sr., and Mary; Her brothers Edward, Milo, Monroe, Alex Jr., Buel, and Boyd. And her sisters, Mary, and (infant sister Corene). Survivors include her sister Mernie Copeland of Hartshorne. Children Raymon Jones and wife Kathy of Spavinaw, Imogene O’Hearon of Chelsea, and Lovella Jones and husband Randy of Chelsea. Grandchildren include Kyle Jones and wife Chiharu of San Antonio Texas, Miranda Pruitt and husband Charley of Tigard, Oregon, Jennifer Payne and husband John of Rienzi Mississippi, Alex O’Hearon of Tulsa, Eric O’Hearon of Tulsa, Preston Jones, and wife Jessica, of Chelsea, Victoria Barrett and Husband William of Chelsea, Patricia Jones of Chelsea, and Stewart Jones of Cushing. Great grandchildren are Hannah Payne, Kento Jones, Sarah, Abi, and Lili Spain.
