Delois Geraldine McGowan

Memorial service for Delois Geraldine McGowan will be 11:OO a.m., Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Pleasant Hope Baptist Church, Adair, Oklahoma. Delois passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2019. She was 72.

Delois Geraldine McGowan was born March 8, 1946 in Claremore, Oklahoma to Buford Kenneth Rather and Lena Cathryn (Hilbert) Rather. She attended school at Tiawah and Inola, where she enjoyed playing basketball. On June 21, 1967 Delois married Dave McGowan, the couple made their first home in Claremore before moving to Inola, where they raised their 3 boys, Bradley Kenneth, David Scott, and Brian Keith.

A wonderful cook, Delois loved cooking for her family, she made sure they were well taken care of. She enjoyed traveling with Dave and going to the lake just to relax. Delois was a great fan of the OU Sooners and had the most fun watching it with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed talking politics with those who would listen.

Delois was preceded in death by her parents, Buford and Lena Rather; her husband Dave McGowan; her son Brad McGowan; her grandson Benjamin Stuebing and her mother-in-law Willie McGowan

Those family members that survive include her sons David Scott McGowan and Brian Keith McGowan and wife Darla; her beloved grandchildren and her sister Donna Moore.
