Jack Darrell Farris

Graveside service for Jack "Happy Jack" Darrell Farris will be 10:30 a.m., Sat., Aug. 23, at Oakhaven Memorial Gardens with Rev. Larry Conaway officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of MMS-Payne Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Fri. 1-8 p.m., and family will greet friends 6-8 p.m.

Jack passed away Sun., Aug. 17, 2014, at Wood Manor Nursing Home at the age of 89.

The son of Charles and Mary (Davis) Farris was born March 1, 1925, in Paris, TX. He lived in Paris and Amarillo, TX before going to work as a truck driver for Southwest Freight. He settled in Oregon where he was Sheriff for a small town. He then moved to Tulsa in 1953, before moving to Owasso and then finally Claremore. In 1969, Jack started Jack Farris Exterminator. Jack continued his exterminating efforts into the 1980's as Happy Jack. Jack also had the pleasure of running for Mayor of Claremore in the 1980's as well. In his spare time, Jack enjoyed gardening, and square dancing where he won several trophies.

Jack was preceded in death by his wives, Dolly Ward Farris and Susan Farris; parents; 2 sisters; and a brother.

He is survived by his daughter, Rita Ault of Claremore; step-sons, Grant Severson of Germantown, MD and Garik Severson of Tulsa; sister, Edie Johnson of Salt Lake City, UT; grandchildren: Shanda, Leslie, Malin, Ashley, and Angelo; and great-grandchildren: Joel and A.J.
