John Reid Blacker

February 21, 1950 — August 6, 2018

John Reid Blacker passed away Monday, August 6, 2018, at Autumn Leaves of Tulsa. He was 68 years old.
The son of Harley and Mollie (Hacker) Blacker was born February 20, 1950, in Richmond, Indiana. He made his career in the U.S. Air Force and Reserves, serving from 1969 to 2005, working as an aircraft maintenance specialist. He attained the rank of Master Sergeant, and was awarded several medals, including Vietnam Service Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Longevity Service Award with Five Devices, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. He served in support of Operation Noble Eagle Enduring Iraqi Freedom. He retired from Wright Patterson Air Force Base in 2005.
After retirement, John owned his own excavating business, called Blackers Excavating. He loved farming, fishing, and excavating work, but especially his dogs Jake and Scooter.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Harley and Mollie Blacker, and his nephew Brian Volkerding.
His survivors include his daughters Sarah Worley and husband Chris of Claremore, Oklahoma, and Amy Blacker of West Alexandria, Ohio, his brother Glen Blacker and wife Pam of Eaton, Ohio, his sister Carol Volkerding and husband Richard of Miamisburg, Ohio, his niece Kristen Belcher and husband Jason of Centerville, Ohio, and grandchildren, Caleb, Emily, Joe, Hannah, Jordan, Mercedes, and Hudson.
