Leonard Leon Yates

Lenny passed from this life on June 22, 2021 at the age of 67.
The son of Leon and Elaine Yates was born on October 10, 1953 in Wagner, OK. Leonard attended Justus and Claremore Schools.
On May 25, 1973 he married the love of his life, Ellen Ivon Kizer. They made their home in Claremore.
From reading electric meters, to steel worker, to carpentry work, and auto mechanic, he did it all.
He was a loving husband, father and papa. He was always putting his family first. He loved going fishing and hunting with his kids and grandchildren. He would pull them around the yard on the mower and trailer. And their favorite thing for papa to say was wash your paws before you get anything. And also hollering at people to slow down the driveway. His favorite time was going on their hunting trips.
Everyone who knew Lenny will miss him, but not as much as his wife Ellen Ivon from Claremore and his three children Chris Yates and wife Vanessa. Jennifer Barnes and husband David. Heather Lewis and husband Alvin, all of Claremore; seven grandchildren: Brandon Barnes, Dustin Barnes and Racheal Barnes. Jessica Usry and husband Kyle. Zackery Lewis, Elizabeth Lewis and Mason Tucker; three great-grandchildren: Alexis and Braxton Newman, and soon to be baby Ava Usry; his Brother Mark Yates; and his beloved dog Banjo.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Mike Yates, and grandson Abram Lewis.
