Michael Andrew Massey

Memorial service for Michael Andrew Massey will be 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at MMS-Payne Funeral Home Chapel. Michael passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2021. He was 67.

Michael Andrew Massey was born December 30, 1953 in Charleston, West Virginia to Bobby Gene and Wanda Lee (Hornsby) Massey. He grew up and received his education in Seth, Virginia, graduating with the class of 1971 from Sherman High School. Michael continued his education by attending West Virginia State where he completed his Bachelor's degree in education. He taught 5th, 6th, and 7th grades for a few years before he began working for Dupont Chemical. A hard worker, Michael moved his way through the ranks at Dupont and finished there as Senior Contract Administrator.

When Michael wasn't working, he enjoyed spending time with his family. His organization skills came into play when planning family vacations, with an itinerary that kept everyone knowing what was coming next. Michael enjoyed water skiing, boating, and jet skiing. He loved going to car and boat shows, looking at the newest models and making plans on his next car purchase. When his kids were in school, he was involved with all aspects of their activities, He coached for his son's teams and drove the band van for all out-of-town events for his daughter. His grandchildren were very important to him and he attended each of their games and activities.

A wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Michael leaves behind his beloved family which include his loving wife, Sandy Massey; son Brent Massey and wife Tara; daughter Meghan Massey; grandchildren Luke, Ryan, and Abigail Massey; mother Wanda Dolin; sister Kristi Webb,  step brother Michael Dolin and mother-in-law Mellie Lowther  Michael was preceded in death by his father Bobby Gene Massey; his step-father Virgil Doln; and father-in-law James Robert Lowther.

Those who wish to honor Michael's memory may contribute to the St. Judes Children's Hospital.
