Andrew James Hallock, a devoted husband, a loving dad, grandpa & great grandpa, passed away peacefully in Claremore, OK on September 22, 2025. He was 86.
Born June 6, 1939 in Springfield, MA to Howard & Barbara Hallock, Andy grew up in Agawam, Massachusetts with his sister, Nancy and two brothers, Peter & John, and graduated from Agawam High School in 1957.
Andy met his wife Janice Bilodeau, at Agawam High School. As a watchful hall monitor, Andy was impressed that his future wife always obeyed the rules and walked through the “proper” one-way doors—but he was even more impressed by her charm and beauty, or in his words…she was “quite the looker”! As fate would have it, on one of Jan’s many visits to the gas station where Andy worked, he finally got up the nerve to ask her out. The rest is history!
Andy and Jan married in 1961 at Agawam Congregational Church and honeymooned at Niagara Falls. When Andy was drafted into the Army, they moved to Fort Riley, KS and then to Fort Benning, GA. In the Army, Andy worked in the 188th Helicopter Co of the 11th Air Assault Division, supporting the Army’s helicopter operation. When Andy’s tour was over, they moved back to Massachusetts where they built a beautiful New England home in Feeding Hills and raised their three children. Andy loved driving a tow truck for the Riverside Park Speedway, plowing snow for others in the winter, upholstering & refinishing furniture, caning chairs, chopping firewood, taking the family on New England roadtrips, swimming, camping, snowmobiling, watching NASCAR, dancing to Polka music with Jan, and yodeling (and boy…could he yodel!). Andy was a huge Red Sox fan and loved his New England Patriots!
In 1979, the family (and dog) loaded up the Mercury and settled down in Claremore, OK so Andy could start a career in Tulsa’s booming aerospace industry. In this new chapter of their lives, Andy worked on the F-4 Phantoms at McDonnell Douglas and later as an American Airlines mechanic and inspector for the MD-80 line in Tulsa.
Andy was a Mason, a member of Claremore First Methodist Church, and a life-long blood donor. He & Jan were actively involved with the Claremore High School Band Parents where they helped run the football concession stand and traveled to the Gator Bowl as band chaperones. After his retirement from American Airlines, Andy volunteered as a Side-walker for Bit by Bit, a therapeutic horse-riding program for children with special needs at Rogers State College. Together, he and Jan managed their own consignment and antique business called “Idle Hour”. After Jan passed away in 2020, Andy volunteered at the Claremore First Methodist Church’s Food Pantry and became an active member of two grief groups--one at the Claremore First Methodist Church and one through Compassus Hospice.
By far, Andy’s biggest pride & joy were his grandchildren and great grandchildren! He loved attending their soccer and volleyball games, rowing regattas, band events, and high school and college graduations. He also loved traveling to Bellingham, WA to visit his daughter and family.
Andy is survived by his daughter Sharon and husband Bradley of Bellingham, WA; his son Daniel of Tulsa, OK; his son James and wife Sandra of Owasso, OK; his six grandchildren—Joshua and wife Nicole, Kensey and husband Michael, Michael and wife Emily, Megan, Allison and husband Zach, and Lauren; five great-grandchildren—Abigail, Andrew, Alyssa, Grace, and Amelia; his brothers Peter and wife Jill and John and wife Chris; and numerous nephews, nieces, and friends.
Andy was predeceased by his parents, Howard & Barbara Hallock of Agawam, MA; his wife of 59 years, Janice; and sister Nancy Hallock-Cooper and husband Rollie of Whitewater, Wisconsin.
A memorial service to celebrate both Andy & Jan will be held on Friday, November 28 at 10:00 am at the Claremore First Methodist Church in Claremore, OK, with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Andy’s honor to Melha Shriners, 270 Main Street, Suite HH, Agawam, MA 01001 or to Claremore First Methodist Church Food Pantry, 1615 OK-88, Claremore, OK 74017.
