Angela Dawn Knight

Angela Dawn Knight passed away after her long, hard fought battle with cancer on Wednesday, August 5th in Tulsa, OK surrounded by family and an amazing medical team. There will be service for her at 2pm on Friday, August 28th, 2026 at MMS-Payne Funeral Home in Claremore, OK.

Angela was born on December 30th,1964 to Earl Valk and Glayds Thomas in Claremore, OK where she was raised and loved with her 11 siblings. She attended Claremore public schools until she graduated high school. After graduating Angela met Marty Battenfield and became a homemaker to be able to take care of their son, Lonnie. After a few years they separated and Angela then met Gary Knight, who also had a son of his own, Zac, and together they had 4 more children, Aaron, Darron, Stephani, and Tyler. Angela and Gary stayed married for many years until all the children were almost grown, which they then separated but remained close friends and co-parents until Gary’s passing in 2021. In 2014 Angela met Lee Jones and she became a caregiver for multiple people so they spent some time living in Claremore and Hot Springs before they found a place to call home in Inola where she could be near her children and grandchildren. Angela loved to spend time with her children, siblings, and other family members out at the creek or by helping cook for holidays, but what she truly loved to do was spend time with her grandchildren as much as possible. She was diagnosed with cancer back in 2021 and fought hard for years until her recent passing. As much as we will miss her, we know she was greeted by her son Tyler who passed exactly 1 year before her.

Angela is survived by her husband Lee Jones, son Lonnie Battenfield, son Zac Knight and wife Jeni, son Aaron Knight, son Darron Knight and wife Kendra, daughter Stephani Knight and husband DJ, grandsons, Ke’Dyn, Bently, Cade, Jace, and Hunter, and granddaughters Trinity, Haylie, and Maggie. She is also survived by her siblings, sister Dee Dunlap, sister Syliva Thompson and husband Chubby, brother Earl Valk, brother Richard Valk, sister Florence Tucker, sister Hazel Laffoon and husband Bill, sister Cynthia Swalley and husband Bill, brother Anthony Valk, and many nephews and nieces.

She is preceded in death by her son Stephen Tyler Knight, mother Gladys Thomas, father Earl Valk, her sisters Theresa Bump and Marlo Wright, her brothers Gordon Valk and Eddie Valk, and her ex-husband and life friend, Gary Knight.
