Service for Duane Stanton will be 2:00p.m. Friday, April 10, 2026, at Pleasant Hope Baptist Church, burial will follow at Chelsea Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday, April 9, from 2pm-7pm, with family receiving visitors from 5pm-7pm.
Arlo Duane Stanton (Duane) was born on August 15, 1953, to Arlo Gordon Stanton and Viola Stanton.
Duane was an outgoing individual who could always find someone to talk to. Mickey Dewey, a lifelong best friend said, “You could drop him off in Alaska and he could still find someone to talk to.” When he met the love of his life, Robin Stanton, he told her that if he was put in a room full of people he didn’t know, he would know all of them by the time he left. Everyone that shared time with Duane was left with many adventures that they could talk about for a lifetime.
Duane was an accomplished bull rider, lumberjack competition competitor, lineman, tug of war team member, arrowhead hunting enthusiast, baseball coach, two stepper, and a cowboy all the way through. He worked hard throughout his life to provide for his family. To his family, he was both a provider and a protector. Duane would often come to the rescue of people that he had never met, demonstrating his kindness, anytime he came across someone in need of help. It was not uncommon for him to assist someone that would break down on the side of the road, or rescue animals.
When he met Robin (Johnston) Stanton in 1981, it didn’t take him long to realize that he wanted to spend his life and share his adventures with her. Duane and Robin were married on March 6, 1982. To his children, Duane was a fun/funny dad that instilled a love of music in his children. It was not uncommon for him to wake up his children with blaring music while he danced around the living room waiting for them to join him. He was proud of his children’s accomplishments, often keeping memorabilia from every event. He was an adoring grandfather that loved spending time with his grandchildren. When a grandchild had to stay home or was picked up because they were “sick” he would love to later report that after some biscuits and gravy at the diner and a little country and western music, they had made a full recovery.
In the early morning hours of April 04, 2026, Duane passed peacefully near his wife in their home after a nearly year long aggressive dance with cancer.
Duane is preceded in death by his father, Arlo Gordon Stanton, and his mother Viola Stanton.
Duane is survived by his wife, Robin Stanton. Duane is survived by his siblings, Vicki Webb and husband David, Gordon Stanton and wife Elizabeth, and Anita Costas and husband Johnny. Duane is survived by his children, Mandy Buell and husband Herb, Jerod Stanton and wife Destyn, Jeremy Stanton and wife Tamera, Samantha Kelley and husband Jake, and Logan Stanton. Duane is survived by his grandchildren, Brady Buell, Riley Buell, Tobey Buell, Carly Buell, Brecklyn Stanton, Jett Stanton, Hayle Stanton, Courtney Stanton, Jeremy Stanton Jr, Noah Withrow, Clara Rouge, and Laycee Phillips. He is survived by one great grandchild, Paxton Wayne Stanton.
