Barbara Ann Applegate-Kitchen, age 88, of Inola, Oklahoma, passed away on August 25, 2025.

Barbara had been a longtime resident of Inola since marrying Junior Applegate at a young age. Together, they built a life, raising their family and running a ranch in the community they loved.

She dedicated many years to working as a home health nurse and housekeeper, always caring for others with kindness and compassion. When she wasn’t working or helping on the ranch, Barbara could often be found outdoors. She loved hunting, fishing, and embracing nature—truly embodying the spirit of a pioneer woman.

Barbara was a selfless and loving person whose greatest joy came from caring for her family. Her devotion to her loved ones was unwavering, and she leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and resilience.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Junior Applegate; her daughters, Juanita Deerinwater and Jodi LaMont; sister, Pearl and several siblings and extended family members.

Survivors include her son, Teddy Applegate; grandchildren, Eric Deerinwater, Stacey Tinker, and Danny Claire; ten great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will miss her dearly.

Barbara will be remembered for her strength, her giving spirit, and the love she shared with everyone around her.
