In December of that year, she married Virgle Franklin McClure, while he was home on leave from the Navy. They made their home in various communities in northeast Oklahoma, finally settling in the Inola area. She worked as a clerk at Redbud Grocery Store, where she retired in 1991.
Barbara was very active in her community. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Sisters of Epsilon, Sigma Alpha, Inola Roundup Club, and Inola Senior Citizens.
