Betty Jo (Stritzke) Cluck passed away on March 3, 2023, at the age of 73. She was born December 24, 1949, to Joe and Eunice (Osten) Stritzke. She grew up along the Verdgris River until her family relocated their family farm in 1958 when Oologah Lake was created. She attended her early years at Talala School, until she moved to Oologah -Talala Schools when the two merged. She graduated high school in 1968 and was a teller at the Claremore Federal Savings and Loan for the following four years.
Betty married James Thomas Cluck on December 24, 1968 and spent the next 54 years together working on their farm and raising their family. Within this span of time, she took a job at Walmart in 1989, and spent over two and a half decades primarily as a checker greeting people with her dazzling smile, friendly personality, and genuine compassion. She was known far and wide as the favorite checker and always worth the wait to “get in her line.” Once she retired in 2016, she returned to full time commitments on the family farm and making memories with her grandchildren. She had an unsurpassable work ethic when gardening, tending her many flowers, doing yard work, dairying, raising beef cattle, and working in the pecan grove. If she saw something that needed done, then you might as well stop and help her with what she has at the top of her list…daylight to well passed dark there was always something she was working on. Over the years, she used her superb sewing skills to tailor special outfits and dresses, cooked meals on a whim, and baked from scratch all to help out and share her love with her family. By far though, her favorite pass time was with her children and grandchildren, whom she had overwhelming pride. Nothing delighted Betty more than watching her grandchildren in all their many activities, sports, or just playing at her house.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law Donna Stritzke.
This loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched. Betty is survived by her husband; James, children Jeff Cluck and wife Tamryn, Lisa Rader and husband Chris, and Daniel Cluck and wife Micha, grandchildren; Avery Cluck, Jake, Jesse and Jasper Rader, Laney Tice, Walker, Joey, and Stetson Cluck, her siblings; Fred Stritzke and Barbara Reese along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
