Burial will follow at Chelsea Cemetery, under the direction of MMS-Payne Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 1-6 p.m. on Sunday, November 17, with family greeting friends from 4-6 p.m. Beverly was promoted to glory on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at the age of 78.
"Aunt Bee", as she was affectionately called, was born in Claremore, Oklahoma on April 1, 1946, the second daughter of Lloyd Anderson Dennis and Esther (Fisher) Dennis. She spent her childhood years in the family home overlooking Claremore Lake, and attended Sequoyah Schools, graduating with the class of 1964. Her life changed dramatically in 1954, when her family began attending the Pentecostal Church of Tiawah. She made a commitment to the Lord that sustained her for the rest of her life, through all of its ups and downs. Through the years, she influenced many lives through her work as a Sunday School teacher.
Beginning in 1968, with the opening of the new store in Claremore, Beverly became a Walmart sales associate. She eventually became a department manager, and remained there for her entire career, which spanned more than 30 years. Many of her coworkers were counted among her lifelong friends.
On July 23, 1981, Beverly married Bobby Dean Dawes in a Claremore ceremony, and they enjoyed 43 years of married life. They had the gift of hospitality, and together they hosted many dinner parties, where they fed numerous people. She and Bobby enjoyed shopping at garage sales and thrift stores. Beverly loved spending time with friends and family, whether it was lunch with her Walmart buddies, ice cream with her sister, or just babysitting her great-nephews. She had no children of her own, so her nieces and nephews were her bonus children.
Beverly was greatly loved, and will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings-in-law Richard Dawes, Betty Brookshier, and Winston Little.
She leaves behind her husband, Bobby Dawes, her sister Betty Little, numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews, extended family, and a host of friends.
