Bobby, a beloved member of the Claremore community known for his warm hospitality, talent, and dedication, passed away on March 16, 2026, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Born on March 16, 1954, in Nowata, Oklahoma, Bobby’s journey was marked by commitment to family, faith, and craft.
Bobby was born to Floyd Dee and Edith Irene (Jenkins) Dawes and grew up in Chelsea, where he graduated from high school in 1972. From an early age, he embarked on his career at Northeastern State Hospital, demonstrating the dedication and work ethic that would define much of his life.
A man of many talents, Bobby found joy after retirement in refinishing old furniture, always seeking out bargains and treasures among antiques. His gift for restoring beauty extended to his skill in car detailing, where he could make vehicles look brand new. Bobby’s passion for his church was evident in his active participation; he devoted time and energy to church fundraisers and was integral in the building of the Chelsea church. In his later years he and Beverly moved to the Sequoyah community and became active in Westwood Church.
Those who knew him often recall how he would respond when asked “How are you?” with the heartfelt answer, “perfect in every way.” This phrase reflected Bobby’s positive spirit and contentment with life.
Bobby and his late wife, Beverly, were renowned as gracious hosts, delighting in gathering family and friends, especially during holidays. Starting to cook at the tender age of seven, Bobby’s culinary skills were impressive and varied; among his specialties, his peanut brittle was famous and much cherished. He and Beverly delighted in hosting dinners at their home, feeding large numbers of people, especially ministers and their wives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Dee and Edith Irene (Jenkins) Dawes; his wife, Beverly Dawes; and his siblings, Richard Dawes and Betty Bowling.
Bobby is survived by his brother, Jimmy Lee Dawes, and his wife, Audrey, sisters-in-law Alberta Dawes and Betty Little, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, church family, and a host of friends who will remember him fondly and carry forward his legacy.
Bobby Dean Dawes will be remembered with respect and affection for the fullness of his life: his genuine kindness, his artistic hands, his faith, and his infectious joy in sharing good food and good company. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know him.
