Boyd Allen Lewis

Boyd Lewis peacefully passed away surrounded by his loving family on January 28, 2024. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Westside Holiness Church in Claremore, OK. The burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Claremore. Visitation will be at MMS-Payne Funeral Home in Claremore on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with family receiving friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Boyd was born on September 28, 1940, in Muskogee, OK, to Huie and Lorene (Brown) Lewis. He grew up in Wagoner, graduated from Wagoner High School in 1958, and married Rocketta Delmedico on October 12, 1962, after meeting on a blind date at El Toro in Muskogee. They enjoyed 61 wonderful years together. After getting married, Boyd joined the Air National Guard and later worked at Crane Carrier in Tulsa for many years before retiring. In 1973, Boyd moved his family to Claremore, where they made their home with their three sons. 

Boyd loved the Lord and was a member of Church on the Move for 30 years. 

Boyd always had a green thumb, Boyd loved gardening and growing pecans. He enjoyed spending the time to clean the pecans and give them as Christmas gifts every year. He enjoyed bowling and playing softball, and was part of a softball league earlier in life. Boyd had a great sense of humor, always ready with a joke. Most importantly, Boyd cherished time with his family.

Boyd is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Curtis Lewis; sister Vida Southern and great-grandson Owen Lewis. 

Boyd is survived by his wife, Rocketta, and their sons: Chris Lewis and wife Phoebe, Mark Lewis, and Shane Lewis and wife Shelli. He is also survived by grandchildren; Bethyne Keener and husband Jakob, Nathaniel Lewis and wife Sarah, John Lewis and wife Beth, Matt Lewis, Gabe Lewis and wife Taylor, Austin Lewis and wife Jazzmine, Andrew Lewis, and Shelby Lewis and fiancé Brandon Foust; 9 great-grandchildren, along with sisters Dean Brant, Danna Miller, and Rita McClain.
